poor man's fit to background reduction dependent on hyp_met cut

  • expo fit:
    • take met cut values as x values
    • take corresponding event yields of all samples except LM? as y values
    • let ROOT fit with "expo" ( f(x) = exp(p0+p1*x) )


  • use all fit, calculate MET cut for 10% background, which results in MET_Cut = (ln ( f(x) ) - p0)/p1 = ( ln(10)-5.994 ) / -0.0338 = ~110 GeV
  • use em fit, calculate MET cut for 10% background, which results in MET_Cut = (ln ( f(x) ) - p0)/p1 = ( ln(10)-5.878 ) / -0.03406 = ~105 GeV

  • use all fit, calculate MET cut for 1% background, which results in MET_Cut = (ln ( f(x) ) - p0)/p1 = ( ln(1)-5.994 ) / -0.0338 = ~175 GeV
  • use em fit, calculate MET cut for 1% background, which results in MET_Cut = (ln ( f(x) ) - p0)/p1 = ( ln(1)-5.878 ) / -0.03406 = ~172 GeV
